Performance Improvement Manager/Senior Manager

Responsibilities

The Claro Healthcare team is looking for a Manager or Senior Manager with Cost Management and/or Clinical Management process and strategy experience.  The successful candidate is able to integrate their prior consulting experience and teaming with various hospital stakeholders to improve processes, measurement tools, and drive value for the client.  This role will partner with clients and lead teams (finance and clinical) in all phases of Performance Improvement engagements to assist them to succeed.

Client Services and Project Delivery

  • Produce and manage the development of high-quality work product/ deliverables that exceed client expectations on a consistent basis
  • Demonstrate expertise in any combination of the following:
    • Revenue Cycle with a focus on denials
    • Length of Stay Reduction
    • Clinical Operations, within hospital preferred
    • Physician Practice Consulting Labor Productivity
  • Serve as direct conduit to clients; field and respond to requests directly from the client and keep project sponsor apprised of project status
  • Proactive in communicating engagement timelines, deadlines, responsibilities, and client expectations; provides frequent status updates to team leadership and clients
  • Take on project management responsibilities and assists leadership with scoping, budgeting, billing, and collection matters
  • Anticipate client needs and contribute to shaping the overall work product and underlying analyses
  • Data-driven and have past experience with data analyses and the ability to define and architect various ways of approaching data sets

Staff Development

  • Demonstrate a true interest and track record of developing future leaders
  • Take ownership of identifying and retaining high performing individuals by working with leadership to identify the next level of performers for firm’s long-term growth and future development
  • Facilitate the growth and development of junior staff by teaching them the technical tools of the practice area and providing opportunities for them to take ownership of certain aspects of the project
  • Provide candid and constructive feedback on a timely basis to all levels of project team

Practice and Business Development

  • Proactively seek to improve tools/processes utilized in client work
  • Display initiative in business development activities and seek ways to expand existing client relationships
  • Actively look for opportunities to expand relationships across all Claro Healthcare practice areas and strive to facilitate introductions/meeting as appropriate

This position is based in Chicago and requires up to 80% travel to client sites throughout the United States

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a strong academic record
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a consulting setting with focus on Cost Management, Revenue Cycle or Clinical Operations
  • Have a deep understanding and demonstrated contributions in the areas of Performance Improvement: Labor/Non-Labor Savings, Service Line Reconfiguration, Length of Stay Management and/or Clinical Operations: Clinical Variation, Physician Management, Care Management, Observation Management. These contributions should be definable and illustrate value
  • Proficiency in Tableau, Excel, and SQL
  • An ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical, and impactful manner
  • Experience working through organizational change and driving value with clients, with a demonstrated track record of continuing responsibilities, creativity and innovation, including evidence of solution design
  • Proven ability to build, manage, and foster a collaborative environment
  • Proven track record and strong interest in being involved in business generation activities – proposal creation, RFP response, pricing/profitability modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and manage multiple projects and teams with people of various disciplines and backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability of developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders and/or clients at the executive level
  • Experience/knowledge of regulatory compliance issues facing the healthcare industry and an awareness of key methodologies, approaches, and market trends in the industry
  • Strong interpersonal, team-building, organizational, and motivational skills
  • Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to provide clarity to complex issues and synthesize large amounts of information
  • A desire to deliver to a high standard in a suitable timeframe
  • Self-motivating, adaptable, able to prioritize, and able to inspire and motivate others

Desired Qualifications

  • MBA, MHA, CPA or equivalent graduate degree
  • Consulting exposure and/or prior work experience in one or more of the following areas:
